MOR9 is a well pad located in Morris Township, Greene County, PA comprised of five (5) Marcellus shale and two (2) Burkett shale wells. Four (4) additional Marcellus wells are being drilled on the existing pad in November and December 2023 and will be completed in 2024. MOR9 is situated adjacent to other and/or in the midst of a third-party high traffic coal surface facility. This third-party industrial activity is permitted separately by PA DEP and unrelated to CNX’s activity. These nearby industrial and coal mining support operations and characteristics may affect the air quality readings observed at MOR9.
Upwind and downwind air quality monitoring equipment measuring PM2.5 (particulate matter) and VOCs known as BTEX was installed within 500’ of the well pad.
The prevailing wind direction for this region is from the south-southwest. CNX positioned the PM2.5 monitors such that one would be subject to winds from upwind of the well pad and the other would be in the path of wind traveling across the well pad (downwind).
